Brad Means Does My Job: Nail Technician

You've probably noticed by now that Brad Means was off Thursday night...probably recovering from the exhausting task of learning how to give pedicures. T is the latest installment of Brad Means Does My Job.

Augusta, GA -- The good folks at Nail Season know how to make you look good and feel good, and they tried to teach me.

Christina Chacon, Nail Season: "You're welcome."

A magazine helps put Tiffany Nguyen at ease. That would be Tiffany, the lady kind enough to let me practice my pedicure skills on her...skills that make you put safety first.

After finally finding some good gloves...I can focus on Tiffany's toes.

It starts with a good soak...followed by the file.

Brad Means: "What we're doing is filing your toenails down, and then we're gonna make 'em look real nice."

Christina Chacon is a nail technician and my teacher.

Christina: "Like that."

Brad: "Okay, you don't have to whip it back and forth?"

Christina: "No, just lightly."

Okay, easy parts over...time to clean and push with my sanitized tools.

Brad: "This is to push underneath the nail, and this is to push the cuticle back? With the pointy side up?"

Christina: "Yeah."

Tiffany: "Ow!"

Brad: "Did that hurt? Are you serious? Oh gosh! Sweet, dear Lord, Tiffany don't do that. (Tiffany laughs)"

That's okay, let the pros poke fun at me.

Brad: "This little piggie went to market..."

After we clean, we buff.

Christina: "We're going to buff her toes to get any leftover debris on it."

Then we break out the pumice stone.

Brad (laughing): "Please return your foot to the soaking center."

Throw in a pinch of sea salt for the foot massage. Some lotion for the leg massage.

And I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get to paint her piggies. The time finally comes, and the ladies choose red.

Christina: "Make sure your brush is flat when you paint."

Brad: "Uh huh."

Christina: "That's pretty good."

Red really shows mistakes.

Brad: "Hold on, don't judge me. I can fix it."

Her nails are too small. This artist needs more canvas.

Alright, christina did one of these two feet, I did the other. Can you really tell a difference?

Tiffany is too kind to tell me the truth.

Tiffany: "Overall you did okay, not too bad for your first time."

And probably my last time. Something tells me my friends at Nail season undid all my hard work, the minute we said goodbye, but it sure was fun.
