Lacy Aaron Schmidt will go before a judge on Monday for the murder of 14-year-old Harlem Middle School Student Alana Calahan.
Schmidt, who was 14 at the time of Calahan's death, has been in the Columbia County Detention Center since January of last year.
Investigators believe Schmidt shot Calahan in the back of the head with her father's gun, then drug her body out of the house.
If the jury is selected Monday morning, opening statements from the prosecution and the defense will be heard.
We spoke with the mother of Alana Calahan, who says they still have questions.
"I still have my moments...I want to know why...I want to know why, and I want her back," Alana's mother, Betty Calahan, has told us.
Investigators say that Schmidt has gone on record saying that he did not mean to shoot Alana, but he was denied bond. He now sits in the Columbia County Detention Center while awaiting trial.
