Hundreds of people gathered to pay their final respects for Officer Sandy Rogers.
Flags flew at half staff throughout Aiken as the 1st day of February started with a community honoring one of their own.
Dozens of people placed flowers, flags, balloons and boquets at Aiken Department of Public Safety Headquarters.
Dozens of police cars lined the streets as officer transfered Officer Rogers' casket into a horse drawn carriage.
The procession ended at Bethany Cemetry around 5 p.m. with many officers comforting one another. Some hugged, some cried, but they all remembered a fallen hero.
Rogers was the second officer who died in the line of duty in just more than a month, at the same department.
The burial also had a cross to honor Officer Scotty Richardson who was shot and killed in December.
Family members say Wednesday was a day to honor and remember Rogers' life.
4 days since she was shot, and 4 hours to honor her sacrificies that she made in a lifetime for the community, she lived in and called home.
If you'd like to help Officer Rogers' family, you can donate to the memorial fund.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. NW., Aiken, SC 29801 or USCA Lucile and Maldon Sprawls Nursing Scholarship Fund, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, SC 29801.
