The opening exhibit took place on Sunday. The work will feature the Essie McManus Quilting Guild from Johnston, South Carolina. The Quilts reflect a combination of history, culture and skill for this emerging art. We spoke with the daughter of the quilting artist. She's pleased to know folks are taking the time to honor her mother's work.
Doris Freeman-Essie McManus's daughter-"To have people coming out to see my mother's work. Some of it is my mother's work and some of it is of the quilting guild. And it's a great honor. And I think she deserving of it too."
The exhibition will run through December 31st at Lucy C. Laney Museum in Augusta on Phillips Street. Admission is 5-dollars for adults and 3-dollars for seniors, military, and children.
