CLINTON, S.C. (AP) - Anyone trying to find the fastest way to Greenville from Columbia or Charleston is going to need a map.

Workers were set Monday to close 15 miles of the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 from Interstate 26 to around Gray Court.

The lanes are scheduled to stay closed until mid-August as crews work on the $61 million project to remove asphalt, replacing it with concrete and adding shoulders to the highway.

Southbound lanes will remain open, and will be shifted to the new northbound lanes about halfway through the project so crews can work on the other side of the road.

Traffic is being detoured up I-26 to Spartanburg, then back down Interstate 85 to Greenville.

A second detour takes drivers through Clinton, Laurens and Gray Court.
