Douglas Smith, Jr. changed his name to Captain Awesome, and he's got the driver's license to prove it.

The name change was apparently inspired by a TV character, and mail mix-ups with his dad.

So, how have people been reacting to the change?

Captain Awesome, formerly Douglas Smith, Jr.: "Um, it's been all kinds of things from admiration to disgust and people calling me all types of not friendly names.

Captain Awesome says he is also an ordained minister.
