A North Augusta man was killed in a Thursday night traffic crash on Interstate 20. The Aiken County Coroner says 32-year-old Aaron Jennings died when his car was forced off the road by a tractor-trailer changing lanes to avoid slow-moving traffic.
The crash happened just after 6:15 Thursday night between mile markers 14 and 15 in Aiken County. Witnesses say Jennings was in the passing lane when the tractor-trailer changed lanes, forcing him into the median.
Jennings, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from his vehicle and crushed. He died an hour later at Medical College of Georgia.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating whether the truck driver will face any charges.
It's the 9th traffic death in Aiken County so far this year.
