Martinez, GA -- It's an overwhelming experience that Brianna Murphy says she never could have imagined.

Brianna Murphy, Lakeside High School senior: “I had a couple of bridal companies around the area that have donated dresses, so that kind of set me right over 100.”

It's called, 'Formally Yours,' a senior project that collects new or used prom dresses and gives them to girls who can't afford one.

Brianna: "It's kind of become more of a, not as much as a project anymore, as it is something I’ve enjoyed doing. I started collecting back in September. It was very, very slow, I had 30 dresses, and I sat with about 30 dresses for 3 or 4 weeks."

But that has quickly changed. Now any size imaginable, they've got, along with shoes and accessories.

Sheri Murphy, Brianna’s mother: “We have over 300 gowns now. She's got 300 gowns to give away, probably more between now and December.”

Brianna's mom, Sheri, says she can't believe the dresses that have taken over her home. But, each one reminds her daughter and her of just how important this project has become.

Sheri: “She recently had an e-mail in the last week from a girl who e-mailed her and said, 'I’m going to be one of those who you are going to help. I have a couple of questions.' And, when she got that e-mail, she was just beaming, knowing that she’s' going to at least help one girl.”

The dresses will go to anyone who needs one, no matter what Georgia or South Carolina county they're from.

Brianna: “Prom is a huge thing for juniors and seniors. Everyone wants to go, you always think about going even when you're, you know, middle school. It's something I’ve always looked forward to and I’ve enjoyed, so if I can help someone else go. It's something I hope to continue and I hope will be able to reach girls and just be able to help.”

Donations will be taken until the end of December, early January. On February 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., girls can pick their favorite dress, with no charge, at Crossbridge Baptist Church, on Skinner Mill Road.

If you'd like to help, there are several drop off locations. All 3 Tudor’s locations, on Fury's Ferry Road, Washington Road, in West Augusta and the one in Evans, as well as Coach Dave's Barber and Beauty Shop, in Harlem.
