Augusta, GA---The wait is over and within months this empty land in the Harrisburg Community will look like this.

Wednesday afternoon leaders with the Salvation Army's Kroc Center project announced they received more than enough money to build their multi-million dollar facility.
Captain Mason: “We want people from all over the community to be able to benefit from what the Kroc Center offers. So whether it’s them coming to take a class in the education center or someone coming to work out in the recreation center or see a play in the arts center of see a play or attend worship. We really know that this will be a life-changing center for all.”
The 85,000 square-foot center will include an aquatics center, classrooms, and a 400-seat theater, just to name a few of the features.
The center received more than the $20 million needed to being the project. Leaders say they will use the extra cash to go towards the operating account.
LaVerne Gold, President & CEO, United Way CSRA “Alot of services will be provided from that building from being able to access information about resources to be able to apply for resources to be able to get training.”
And the center is not standing alone. The United Way of the CSRA will move into the same building and help provide continued assistance to those in need. And, although the area has seen its share of violence, project leaders say those who chose to support the Kroc Center see great potential for change.
And, the funding does not stop there. The center will receive $33.9 million from the Kroc estate and an additional $33.9 million for an operation endowment.
