UPDATED: MCG Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect Sought

Augusta, GA -- A suspect is in the hospital at MCG after crashing what police say was a stolen car into the Budget Inn at 441 Broad Street, Sunday night.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Roger Bettis robbed a Greg's Gas Plus, located at Atomic Road and Martintown Road, in North Augusta, and took off across the state line into Georgia in a stolen 1998 Ford Explorer. The car belonged to a store clerk.

Authorities say Bettis fired one round inside the store, causing a bullet hole in a door.

The car caught on fire, damaging the hotel, and he was taken to the hospital. There's no word on his condition.
