Augusta, GA -- On Sunday, Richmond County investigators released a statement saying they are looking for a "person of interest" in this a deadly shooting. Carl Gibbs is the son of Judson Boyd's girlfriend. Gibbs is believed to be driving a late 80s to early 90s mercury grand marquis, grey in color, with a Georgia tag.
Robert Gilchrest has lived in this neighborhood 17 years. He says he's never seen this much police presence.
Robert Gilchrist, Neighbor: “It's a nice neighborhood we've never had any problems had a few break-ins here and there other then that everyone gets along fine.”
Until Friday night, when 68 year old Judson Boyd was shot to death. His live-in girlfriend found him on the floor when she got home from work. Investigators spent Saturday searching for clues. They questioned these two who said they were friends of Boyd’s. Investigators also searched one of their cars. Gilchrest says he was shocked at his neighbor's murder:
Robert Gilchrist, Neighbor: “He was a nice guy sometime he would walk take a walk and he would speak other then that I didn’t know him personally he would speak and couple of times he would stop and chatted for a second or two.”
And even though he says it's a nice neighborhood, Gilchrist says it concerns him that the year has already started with two murders.
Robert Gilchrist, Neighbor: “That’s the tragic thing about it. This makes you wonder how 09 is going to be you know it's started off so early you just hope nothing else like this happens.”
