Atlanta, GA -– Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John W. Oxendine said a suspect has been arrested in an arson fire that damaged a home in McDuffie County, on Sunday evening.
Robert Holt, 25, has been charged with first-degree arson for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail through a window of a home located at 509 Dell Drive, in Thomson, Georgia.
According to Oxendine, Holt planned to burn a house where his estranged girlfriend lived, but attacked the wrong house.
Oxendine said Thomson Police made the arrest Sunday night. Holt also faces charges of four counts of aggravated assault and possession of an explosive device. He is currently being held at the McDuffie County Jail without bond.
First-degree arson is a felony with a penalty of one to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000.
