ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Mayor-elect Kasim Reed has met with members of the Obama administration, looking for a little financial help in dealing with the city's problems.
The costs the city faces include replacing 40 aging fire engines purchased in 2000.
The 'Atlanta Journal-Constitution' reports that the city's Information Technology Department needs $44 million in upgrades.
Reed proposed hiring 750 officers in his first term. He says he will do a better job collecting revenue for the city to help pay for more police and that there is about $25 million a year in uncollected revenue. He also has suggested making cuts to some departments.
Peter Aman, whom Reed has tapped to be his chief operating officer, says the mayor's transition team has some ideas about how to collect more money for the city.
