CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - No criminal charges will be filed against a South Carolina woman whose one-month-old son was kidnapped after she left him alone in her unlocked, running car in North Charleston.

Instead, the 'Post and Courier of Charleston' reports that police have asked the Department of Social Services to investigate 26-year-old Lidia Juarez.

Juarez's son was kidnapped last month and remained missing for more than a day before he was found safe. Police say a 19-year-old woman stalked the mother and kidnapped the infant.

Authorities say the boy appeared to be well taken care of, leading them to decide not to charge Juarez with unlawful conduct toward a child. Prosecutor Debbie Herring-Lash says there is a difference between making a bad decision and committing a felony.
