UPDATED: Columbia County Sex Offender Arrested

A registered sex offender, known for challenging Georgia's sex offender law, is wanted by Columbia County investigators. Investigators discovered 29-year-old Wendy Whitaker is no longer living at the address where she's registered. UPDATED: WJBF News Channel has learned that Wendy Whitaker was arrested late Monday afternoon by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

WJBF News Channel has learned that Wendy Whitaker was arrested late Monday afternoon by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Columbia County, GA -- A registered sex offender, known for challenging Georgia's sex offender law, is wanted by Columbia County investigators.

Investigators discovered 29-year-old Wendy Whitaker is no longer living at the address where she's registered.

You may remember...Whitaker is suing the state over a law that bans sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a place where children gather.

Whitaker said, becaise her conviction stemmed from her high school days when she dated the man she eventually married, she should not be treated the same as offenders who pose a risk to children.

Whitaker was also arrested back in July on drug charges during a traffic stop in Columbia County, after deputies found meth and adderol in the car she was driving.
