Augusta, GA---Staff Sergeant Fontavian Weaver walks though what's left of his stuff, just two days after thieves cleaned out his storage unit.

Staff Sergeant Fontavian Weaver, Augusta, GA: “A lot of my boxes I had were missing; four trunks are missing, tires that I just bought.”

According to a Richmond County Sheriff's Office incident report, more than $7,000 worth of goods were stolen on Saturday...from movies, to clothing and even jewelry. Weaver says the thieves also took his Army uniform and equipment.

SSgt. Weaver: "$500 sleeping bags, helmets, and regular stuff we would use out in the field.”

Because Weaver often gets deployed, he rents this storage unit at Southside Self Storage. But, Weaver is not the only victim. Several other units were also broken into over the weekend.

SSgt. Weaver: “I walked back over the area and alot of the locks on the storages were off.”

The manager tells me they are going over the security cameras and hoping to spot the suspects. Weaver says what hurts the most are the items he can't replace.

SSgt. Weaver: “I just had pictures taken with my daughter, before Easter, because I was doing a weekend thing with her. I had to do it on the weekend, and now my pictures are gone.”

The manager tells us renters were also given the option of getting unit insurance, prior to renting. The insurance covers the unit in the case of theft, fire and natural disaster.
