Convicted Georgia Police Killer Granted Stay Of Execution

Convicted cop killer, Troy Davis, has been granted a stay of execution. The stay was granted late Tuesday afternoon. Davis was convicted of killing a Savannah police officer in 1989.

UNDATED -- Convicted cop killer, Troy Davis, has been granted a stay of execution. The stay was granted late Tuesday afternoon.

Davis was convicted of killing a Savannah police officer in 1989.

Clergy members and other death penalty opponents had been calling for a stay of execution. They pointed out that seven of the nine key prosecution witnesses who testified against Davis, have since recanted their testimony.
