Florence, SC -- There has been a grisly discovery in Florence, South Carolina. The remains of two people have been found in a field.

Police say they got a tip that they should look through some abandoned houses and when they got there, they found what's believed to be human remains in a ditch...behind one of the homes. Police say they're fairly certain at least one set of remains are human. They're treating this case as a murder investigation.

Authorites have yet to identify any remains...but there are three women missing in the city of Florence. Janie Mae Dixon and Rachel Samuel were both last seen on September 8th. And then, last week, Lynn Kirk was reported missing from her apartment. Both Samuel and Kirk live near where the remains were found. Our sister station, WBTW, spoke with Ms. Kirk's sister.

Wilette Burrell, Lynn Kirk's sister: "We praying that it's not her. It's all we can do...just pray and hope she come home safely, wherever she at."

Police say they will likely have to rely on things like dental records and DNA to positively identify the remains.
