Tyler, TX -- A truck driver from Georgia is recovering in an east Texas hospital after a horrible crash...and he's been reunited with a friend thanks to the kindness of strangers:

Dan Miller's 18-wheeler was all but destroyed. Rescue crews said it was a miracle he survived, but as they cut him from the wreckage, he was more concerned about his dog, Chia. That's because Chia ran off after the crash...but Donna Montgomery and her husband found the dog and took her in.

As for Dan, he's still in ICU, undergoing reconstructive surgery. His upper jaw is broken and his nose had to be reconstructed, but he feels better knowing his pal Chia is ok...
