(Florida Times-Union) A day after the Jaguars lost their home opener to Arizona, the team learned that veteran receiver Troy Williamson (Silver Bluff HS/Petticoat Junction, SC) will be out for the season with a torn labrum, and released wide receiver Nate Hughes, who dropped a key pass in the game.

A source close to Williamson revealed the severity of the receiver’s injury to the Times-Union

Williamson suffered the injury after catching an 11-yard pass in the second quarter. Williamson fumbled on the play and in the scramble for the loose ball, an Arizona player fell on the receiver’s shoulder.

Hughes dropped what would have been a touchdown pass (the ball bounced off his shoulder pads) in the fourth quarter with the Jaguars trailing 31-17.

In addition to cutting Hughes, the Jaguars also released tight end Greg Estandia.

In other roster moves, the Jaguars signed rookie cornerback Williams Middleton off Atlanta’s practice squad; added rookie free agent safety Courtney Greene; waived safety Michael Desormeaux from the practice squad and replaced him with linebacker Justin Roland.
