Augusta’s Vaughn Taylor In The Hunt At Turning Stone Championship
Published: October 1, 2009
(AP) - Rookie Leif Olson has shot a 6-under 66 to
tie Tim Petrovic for the first-round lead at the Turning Stone
Resort Championship.
The opening round of the first event of the Fall Series was
rainy and cold, but Olson, a 28-year-old native of Denver, found it
to his liking. He had never held or shared the lead after any round
on the PGA Tour and has made only four of 17 cuts this year.
Petrovic chipped in twice during his round, posting seven
birdies and one bogey. It’s the third time this season he’s opened
with a 66.
One shot behind them were Matt Kuchar, John Senden and Augusta native Vaughn
Taylor. Former Augustan Charles Howell is 3 shots back.
Defending champ Dustin Johnson birdied his last two holes to
finish at 3-under 69.
Play was suspended at 6:30 p.m. because of darkness with nine
players on the course.
