Arizona Diamondbacks’ Pool Company Under Water

PHOENIX (AP) - The tight economy has sent a ripple through the Arizona Diamondbacks’ swimming pool.

With sponsor Riviera Pools filing for bankruptcy protection, the Diamondbacks are looking to sell the naming rights to the pool area behind the right-center field fence at Chase Field.

The 2008 season was the first in a five-year, $1 million deal with Riviera Pools. It was the latest in a line of sponsors for the popular ballpark feature.

D-Backs president Derrick Hall says the club’s other sponsorships remain robust despite the economy. But it might be difficult to find a replacement for Riviera at a time when the Phoenix housing industry is struggling.
