Affrunti Goes Wire-to-Wire to Win Kandy Waters Memorial Classic

Augusta, GA (September 27, 2009)…Former University of Illinois golfer Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) was able finish what he started at The Kandy Waters Memorial Classic posting twenty-one under par 267 to capture his first NGA Hooters Tour win.
The former Fighting Illini golfer carded rounds of 64-65-68-70 en route to a four stroke victory over Casey Crain (La Combe, LA) who finished at seventeen under par 271.

“I’ve been playing well the last few tournaments and knew if I could get myself in contention enough times I could put it together and have a good finish” said Affrunti on his week at Fort Gordon “I’m happy I was able to take advantage of opportunities all week”.
Michael Welch (Quincy, MA) and Andrew Svoboda (Larchmont, NY) finished at fourteen under par 274 and will share a 3rd place finish while Andrew Medley (Athens, AL) and current NGA Hooters Tour money leader Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL) finished in a tie for 5th at thirteen under par 275.
“You never really feel like its going to be your week until it’s all over, every week guys are swinging it well so it really comes down to who is making birdies that week” said the first time winner.
Rounding out the top ten were Augusta native Emmett Turner and Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) who finished in a tie for 5th at twelve under par 276 while Chris Wilson (Dublin, OH), Jason Dillard (Cullman, AL) and Stephen Poole (Aiken, SC) posted eleven under par 277 totals and will share 9th position. 
 
Kyle Bradley (North Augusta, SC) headed up the rest of the local contingency at the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors after finishing at eight under par 280 while Evans, GA amateur golfer Adam McKenney finished at three under par 285.
Affrunti takes home $33,566 for the win while Crain will each receive $16,751 for his runner up finish.
Next week the NGA Hooters Tour heads to Columbia, SC for the Capitol Chevrolet
