INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Tony George wants to know why he was ousted as CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

George used his IndyCar team’s Web site Sunday to reflect on the move, claiming he has not received a “reasonable explanation” from the company’s board of directors, which consists primarily of family members.

George’s family bought the historic 2.5-mile oval in 1945.

Speedway board chairman Mari Hulman George, George’s mother, said it was in the best interests of everyone that her son concentrate his efforts on the IRL, which oversees both the IndyCar Series and the developmental Indy Lights series.

Jeff Belskus replaced George as CEO on July 1, and president Joie Chitwood announced Monday that he was leaving to take another job in racing.
