Augusta, GA—From the looks of things, it’s hard to believe that this was Washington Road, on Masters Monday.
There was no bumper to bumper, and no waiting on cars to desperately turn away.
Masters patron: “Traffic wasn’t too bad. I came around 8:30, didn’t take long at all.“
Masters patron: “It was a little slow, but it wasn’t terrible for this type of event, with this many people.“
Thousands walked across Washington Road, with no problem at all, making their way to the entrance gate, along Berckmans Road. Some say new parking helped to ease traffic.
Masters patron: “This year is much more organized…free parking, so that’s been fanstastic.“
And, it’s the free parking lot across from Gate 6 that is taking a burden off the streets, and making it more enjoyable for guests and locals.
Masters patron: “We’ve made a couple of wrong turns and people have been accomodating to let us in and turn.“
But, for some the mood was spoiled by freeway congestion, because of all the construction.
Masters patron: “On the interstate, it was heavy, we were backed up probably from exit 195 to exit 199. Once we got to the exit, it flowed right onto the parking lot.“
Masters patron: “We were held up on the interstate, coming in from Aiken, and another 20 minutes, here it wasn’t bad.“
So, if you’re deciding whether to take Washington Road near the Augusta National, it should be a perfect drive.
Fraendy Clervaud, reporting: “And despite what some folks have to say about the traffic, once they get onto the golf course, they forget about the headache, and enjoy themselves for a few hours.“
