Columbia County, GA—The line is out the door at Goolsby’s, in Evans. The family-owned business is having a good Masters week.

Richard Goolsby, owner, Goolsby’s: “We have something going out to houses, every night. We did CBS and Westlake, last night.”

The locals are some of the first in the door.

Goolsby: “Business is up, we had a couple of record days and it seems to be a lot of people that don’t get to eat with us on a routine basis, but because of the holidays, they’ve heard about us and now we have a new clientele.“

Even though many people avoid Washington Road, this one week out of the year, owner Richard Goolsby says traffic shouldn’t stand in the way of getting here.

Goolsby: “Just coming in and out of work and taking care of business. All day long, Washington Road looks good up here during the day, and at the end of the day, we don’t see that much traffic out this far.”

A little further down Washington road, at the Pizza Joint, business could be better.

Tony Febus, manager, Pizza Joint on Washington Road: “A little bit slower just because of the economy. Of course, it’s taking a toll on everybody.“

But, the doors will be open longer this week.

Febus: “Usually we close at 10. Now we’re closing at midnight.”
