WAYNESBORO, GA—The Burke County boys golf team won the Georgia Class-AAA state golf championship Monday afternoon at the Waynesboro Country Club.

The Bears shot 304 as a team, beating runner-up Woodward Academy by a stroke.

Evans Horton led Burke County with a round of even-par-72.  It is the first golf state championship in Burke County High School history, and only the school’s second state championship of any kind.  The Bears’ boys track team won the Class-AAA championship in 1999.
