Athens, GA—Mark Richt is in the dog house with one of the top high school football programs in Georgia. Carver High School head football coach Dell McGee has banned Richt’s coaching staff from stepping on the Carver campus.

The feud stems from the Bulldogs backing out of their scholarship offer to Carver quarterback Devin Burns. Rescinding a scholarship is not uncommon in college football, but what makes this one a little different is that Burns took his family to Athens last weekend to formally commit to the Bulldogs.

Georgia’s staff knew about Burns’s visit ahead of time. Richt has since apologized to Coach McGee, telling him that his staff did not handle the situation very well.
