COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says he wants to look at a lot of different players but hasn’t had an opportunity because the Gamecocks’ two games this year have been so close.
Spurrier said Tuesday he likes to stay with players he trusts when a game is tight in the fourth quarter.
The Gamecocks lost 41-37 at Georgia on Saturday. The week before, South Carolina topped North Carolina State 7-3.
Spurrier praised this weekend’s opponent, pointing out that Florida Atlantic has won bowl games the last two years.
Spurrier says there will be two new starters. Defensive tackle Melvin Ingram will take over for the injured Nathan Pepper, and Heath Batchelor will start at right guard.
