COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier doesn’t think receiver Moe Brown will be cleared to play next Saturday after suffering a concussion against Alabama.

Two defenders hit the senior captain after an 8-yard catch in the first half. Brown was carted off the field on a stretcher and taken to a hospital. He flew home from Tuscaloosa, Ala., with the team.

Spurrier said Brown appeared in good spirits but that he thinks doctors will take some time to clear him to return.

Spurrier also said suspended defensive back Akeem Auguste would be available for Saturday’s game with Vanderbilt. Also expected back is running back Jarvis Giles, who also was suspended.

Spurrier said no determination has been made about the long-term status of offensive lineman Heath Batchelor. Several media outlets reported last week that Batchelor had left the team.
