The University of South Carolina football team worked out Thursday afternoon in preparation for Saturday’s SEC contest against 13th-ranked LSU. The Gamecocks (5-2, 2-2 SEC) and Tigers (4-1, 2-1 SEC) will kick off at 8 p.m. ET at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. The game will be televised live nationally on ESPN with Mike Patrick, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe serving as the announce team. The game can be heard on the Gamecock Radio Network, including the Gamecocks’ flagship station, 107.5 The Game in Columbia, as well as on XM satellite radio 144 and ESPN Radio, with Dave Barnett, Dennis Franchione and Dave Ryan describing the action.

Following Thursday’s practice, head coach Steve Spurrier announced that Lemuel Jeanpierre would make the start at right guard in place of Terrence Campbell. “It’s time to give (Jeanpierre) a chance instead of Terrence Campbell, but Terrence is scheduled to play also,“ said Coach Spurrier. “They’ve both had a good week of practice.“

Coach Spurrier admitted that tight end Jared Cook has been a “little gimpy all week. He hasn’t done a whole bunch.“

Sophomore tailback Brian Maddox has a sprained knee and is expected to be out a couple of weeks.

The Gamecocks will wear garnet jerseys with white pants on Saturday. “We’re going with the classic. We’re trying to treat this as another football game -a big game, but not too big. Maybe sometimes we’ve gone too big. It hasn’t worked out, so why not just treat it like another good, normal game. The defending champs are coming in, but we’re just trying to play better, trying to take care of the ball, trying to hit guys that are open, trying to not let them strip us, things of that nature. That’s the only thing we can concern ourselves with is playing the game better -  coaching better and playing better.“
