It’s hard not to keep your eyes off the big-name coaches who are keeping their eyes on some of the best high school basketball players in the country. Kentucky coach John Calipari spoke with WJBF News Channel 6’s Sports Director Chris Kane about the Nike Peach Jam and how recruiting can be improved.
North Augusta, SC—If you love people watching, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t…then the Nike Peach Jam is right up your alley. It’s hard not to keep your eyes off the big-name coaches who are keeping their eyes on some of the best high school basketball players in the country.
Out at North Augusta’s RiverView park Monday afternoon…it was a whose who of college basketball coaches. Bill Self of Kansas was hanging out in Gym three. Indiana’s Tom Creen was watching the New York Gauchos. UCLA’s Ben Howland was there, as was new Georgia Coach Mark Fox….along with South Carolina’s Darrin Horn.
John Calipari also watched a ton of basketball in the early session. He’s still trying to get settled into his new gig at Kentucky. In fact, his family is still unpacking boxes. Calipari has seen his share of AAU hoops tournaments and has a few ideas on how the recruiting process can be improved.
He spoke with WJBF News Channel 6’s Sports Director Chris Kane.
