Former Augusta State OF Signs With Red Sox

Former Augusta State outfielder Shannon Wilkerson has signed a contract with Boston. Last week, the Red Sox picked Wilkerson in the 8th round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Wilkerson will report later this week to Lowell (Boston’s short-season Class-A team in the New York-Penn League).

The 258th pick overall, Wilkerson is the highest draft pick in the 45-year history of the Augusta State Jaguars baseball program.
