CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson coach Dabo Swinney hopes the Tigers can carry the momentum from last week’s win over Duke into Saturday’s game at Virginia.

Swinney said Tuesday he’s been pleased to watch the team’s improvement in the month since he took over for former coach Tommy Bowden.

The Tigers need to continue the surge if they hope to keep playing past November. Clemson must win its final two games against Virginia and South Carolina to qualify for the postseason.

Such a streak could also help Swinney remove the interim tag from his coaching title.

Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips has said Swinney is a candidate for the full-time position.
