CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson star C.J. Spiller has run his way back into the Heisman Trophy race.
Spiller gained 106 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ win over Wake Forest, then followed that with a school-record 310 all-purpose yards in Clemson’s 40-37 overtime victory against Miami last week.
The win over the Hurricanes included Spiller’s third kickoff return TD this season and his 18th and 19th career scores of 50 yards or more. In a Heisman race searching for a front-runner, Spiller is definitely in the mix.
With Spiller out front, the Tigers (4-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) have put themselves in control of the ACC’s Atlantic Division.
