Augusta, GA—He’s energetic….passionate…and gets the most out of his players. For the past five season, Dip Metress has been the face of Augusta State basketball and during this time, the Jaguars have enjoyed not one…but two trips to the division II Final Four.
Thursday night, Coach Metress officially tips off his sixth season as the Jaguars hoops coach.
October 15th marks the first day college basketball teams are allowed to practice, and it did look a little odd to watch the Jaguars practice without Garret Siler on the floor.
Garret, the former ASU All-America center is trying to make the Atlanta Hawks roster, but don’t worry, the Jags have plenty of firepower returning.
Led by all-everything shooting guard Ben Madgen and the most underrated player in division II, Fred Brathwaite, Augusta State is going to be just fine.
WJBF News Channel 6 Sports Director Chris Kane has more.
