A South Carolina Highway Patrol motorcycle caught fire, Friday morning, as the trooper was riding it. The incident happened around 11:00 a.m. at the Publix shopping center on Wade Hampton.

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control says three people in Greenwood County were possibly exposed to rabies. They are now under the care of a physician after the bat tested positive for the disease.

600 Pages of Governor Sanford’s Emails and Phone Calls Released, May Have Cost SC Jobs

E-mails just released by Gov. Mark Sanford’s office show that his affair with a woman from Argentina may have cost more than his political future and embarrassment. He turned down a dinner invitation from a South Carolina company that’s considering expanding its plant here. Before releasing it, along with hundreds of other emails, the governor’s staff blacked out the name of the company, its location, how much it’s considering investing in an expansion and how many jobs that might create.

UPDATED: Spartanburg, SC Man Charged In Child Abuse Death Of Special Needs Child

A Spartanburg man has been charged with homicide by child abuse and child abuse with great bodily harm in the death of a 10-year-old girl. The arrest warrant says David Anthony Tyre, 31, shook the young child and dropped her on her head.

Gaffney, SC Is A Community On Edge After Serial Killings

Police are searching for a serial killer in a shooting spree in Gaffney, South Carolina, a small town less than 200 miles from Augusta, outside Spartanburg. Police say the suspect shot to death two men and three women in less than a week…leaving the small, quiet community on edge. ABC News’ Jeffrey Kofman is in Gaffney with the latest.

UPDATED: Greenville, SC Shriners’ Hospitals for Children Will Stay Open

The decision whether to close Greenville Shriners Hospital will be announced on July 9. A vote on the future of the hospital will be made at some point during the Shriners International Convention in San Antonio which starts on July 5.

UPDATED: SC Sheriff Says Deputies Searching For Killer Of 5

A South Carolina sheriff says deputies are searching to find the man they believe has killed five people in a week. Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Monday that the three separate shootings are linked through evidence. WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division is investigating a police-involved shooting in Gastonia, NC where a suspect was killed to see if there are any links to the Cherokee County serial killings. Recent Homicide Ruled Out; Funerals For Victims Begin Sunday

Funerals begin Sunday in Cherokee County for victims of the serial killer. Hazel Linder and Gena Parker’s funerals will be held at 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Gaffney. There will be a visitation before the funeral beginning at 2 p.m.

Another Body Found In Cherokee County, Police Say Not Related to Serial Killings

Another person has been found dead in Cherokee County. According to crews at the scene, a person’s body was found on the corner of North Petty St. and E. Robinson Street in the city of Gaffney late Saturday night. Authorities say he was found on the sidewalk by a passerby.

UPATED: Teen Becomes 5th Death in SC Serial Killer Spree

The youngest victim of the suspected serial killer in Cherokee County is fighting to stay alive Friday night. Authorities aren’t releasing her name, but several family friends tell us Stephen Tyler’s teenage daughter is named Abby. She was also found shot at Tyler Home Center Thursday night. UPDATE: Abby Tyler died Saturday morning in a Spartanburg hospital.

UPDATED: SC Man Charged For Fireworks Blast That Severely Hurt Teen

Fifteen-year-old Ryan Stancell has lost his hand and most likely have to have both legs amputated after a fireworks accident Thursday night. Stancell is currently at Greenville Memorial Hospital with sever burns on his chest and will need skin grafts, according to his mother. She says they do think he will survive.

UPDATED: Mother, Son Sentenced In SC After Dogs In SUV Die

South Carolina authorities have charged a mother and her son with mistreatment to animals after two dogs were found dead in their sport utility vehicle and four others were discovered in poor health.
