Two men are dead after an early Tuesday morning accident on the Gordon Highway at North Leg Road. The accident happened around 2:00 a.m.  The victims are identified as David Hawthorne and Timothy Thompson.

Woman Dies In Highway 421 Accident In Aiken County

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a 75-year-old North Augusta woman has died in an accident on Highway 421, in Aiken County. Daisy May Ingram was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-car collision on Highway 421. Ingram was the unrestrained front seat passenger in a 2000 GMC Jimmy SUV driven by her granddaughter, Daphne Ingram, also of North Augusta.

Police: Racing May Have Caused Double Fatal GA Wreck

Police spokeswoman Bettina Durant said investigators are looking into the possibility that a Corvette and Mustang were racing on I-285 North before the fatal crash, which occurred between the Lawrenceville Highway and LaVista Road exits. She said the driver of the Corvette lost control of the vehicle, hitting the guard rail and an SUV.

A wreck on New Holland Road about a mile north of Highway 302 kills five people, that’s according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. Count on WJBF News Channel 6 for more information as it becomes available. The deceased have now been identified.

Savannah Man Killed In Head-On Bus Crash Avoiding Alligator

Authorities say 47-year-old Stephen Newell of Savannah died after he swerved his vehicle to avoid an alligator and slammed head on into a Greyhound bus. The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. Friday on Highway 170 in Jasper County.

Car Crashes Into Augusta Business

The morning rain may have contributed to a bad accident in Augusta…It happened around 8:00 a.m. Friday morning on the 1200 block of Augusta West Parkway. Two people were injured when a car went out of control and slammed into the front of Bassett Furniture Direct.

SC Deputy, Second Man Killed In Wreck

A South Carolina sheriff’s deputy and another man have died in a wreck in Rock Hill. Authorities say 40-year-old Lancaster County Sheriff’s Sgt. Stacey Roberts of Lancaster died in the wreck about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

UPDATED: Augusta Hospital Chaplain From SC killed In Wreck

A truck driver has been charged with vehicular homicide in the death of a hospital chaplain from South Carolina. A Richmond County sheriff’s spokesman said 67-year-old Bill Snyder, a minister in North Augusta, S.C., was killed when the moped he was riding collided with a dump truck.

WJBF News Channel 6 has learned a special education teacher at Grovetown Middle School died in a single car wreck, on Monday. The teacher is identified as Ida Ware Scott. Scott was a seventh-grade special education teacher.

Tractor-Trailer Driver Dies In I-20 Accident

There has been a deadly accident on I-20, Friday afternoon. Initially, a tractor-trailer and a small car hit each other near Thomson. After pulling off of the interstate, a second tractor-trailer hit them, killing the driver of the first tractor-trailer.

USC-Aiken Basketball Player Killed In Car Accident Remembered

The USC- Aiken community is mourning the lost of one of their own. Men’s basketball player Javonte Clanton was killed in a car accident. Clanton got on the road right after the USC-A Pacers lost to Augusta State in the NCAA Division II tournament, Tuesday night.  He was on his way home to Ohio. The accident took place along Interstate 77, near Ripley, West Virgina. Investigators believe he fell asleep at the wheel. Count on WJBF News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud for the story.
