President Barack Obama saluted the troops on Veterans Day by hosting a special breakfast at the White House. The president also marked the day at Arlington National Cemetery. He delivered remarks and helped with the annual wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

White House Reports 1 Million Jobs Saved, Created

White House economists say the Obama administration’s recovery efforts have saved or created more than a million jobs. President Barack Obama has promised that his $787 billion stimulus plan will create or save 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year. In its first report to Congress, the Council on Economic Advisers says the number is more than 1 million, and the stimulus has been the driving force.

Columbia County students will not be watching President Obama’s “back to school” address next week. The President was planning on making a webcast available to schools, nationwide, next Tuesday. But so far, Columbia County’s Superintendent, Charles Nagle, has yet to receive any official word about it. So, in his words, it’ll be “business as usual.“
