Hearing On Plant Washington In Sandersville

Gov. Sonny Perdue has cleared the way for 11 road projects funded by the federal stimulus package to move forward. The projects cost $51 million and span Georgia, from metro Atlanta to Washington County.

GA Deer Farmer Fined For Running Pay-To-Hunt Facility

A Washington County deer farmer has been fined after being accused of running an illegal pay-to-hunt facility on his property. Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials have levied $70,000 in fines against Jens Brynteson, who owns Hoofbeat Plantation in Warthen. The charges are based on an 18-month investigation by the state.

Washington Wilkes Animal Shelter Granted Custody Of Seized Pit Bulls

In an e-mail to WJBF News Channel 6, as of Thursday morning, the Bonnie Branch tells us the Washington Wilkes Animal Shelter has been granted sole custody of the Pierce Street pit bulls, by Judge Dunaway. Branch is the Adoption Coordinator for the shelter.

Plant Closes In Sandersville:  Jobs Coming To McDuffie County

There are 100 new jobs are coming to Thomson, as of July 2009, and depending on the economy, the number could grow to 150, going into 2010. Thomson Plastics will expand its operation by 50,000-square feet to accommodate the move of the production and assembly operations from the Sandersville facility, which is about an hour and a half from Augusta. Count on WJBF News Channel 6’s Renita Crawford for the story.
