UPDATED: Family Of Local Businessman Jay Weinberger Issue Statement
Friends and family members are mourning the loss of a well-known Augusta businessman. Jay Weinberger, known for his family furniture business, was found dead early this morning, in Putnam county, Georgia. The Sheriff there says it’s unlike any case he’s seen in his 36 years of law enforcement.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning fire, in which there was moderate damage, to the “Genco” warehouse, a subcontractor of Kimberly Clark, at 1043 Global Ave., Graniteville, South Carolina.

UPDATED: Warehouse Fire Lights Up Night Sky Over Downtown Augusta
A spectacular warehouse fire lit up the night sky over downtown Augusta, Friday evening. The fire broke out in an old abandoned building at 7th & Twiggs around 8:00 PM. Flames reached high into the sky and could be seen from all over the downtown area.
