Hardie Davis Wins State Senate District 22 Seat
The special election to fill Georgia’s State Senate District 22 seat vacated by Ed Tarver. In this corner. Harold Jones…the former Richmond County Solicitor on the left…and in this corner…Hardie Davis on the right…the former state representative who left that position…to fun for this position. One will be the voice of north and eastern Richmond County under the gold dome in Atlanta. And the winner is Davis with 55-percent of the vote. Light turnout…only about 14 percent of registered voters braved the wet weather. WJBF News Channel 6’s Barclay Bishop reports.

UPDATED: Election Results
For Augusta commission District 1, a runoff will be scheduled between Matt Aitken and William Fennoy. They were the top vote getters Tuesday night. For District 3, Joe Bowles is the winner. In District 5, William Lockett edges out former commissioner Bobby Hankerson. And in District 9, it’s a solid win for J.R. Hatney with just over 98 percent of the vote. On the school board side, Patsy Scott will take over for her late husband, longtime educator and board member Joe Scott. Steve Smith wins re-election as Marshal.
