Record turnout for advance voting in Augusta and big numbers of first time voters, but are these newcomers slowing down the process, adding to the waits that are running in some cases two hours long?

Federal prosecutors want to remind South Carolina voters that several agencies will be ready to take any reports of voter intimidation or fraud on Election Day.

Voters in Augusta have been casting ballots early since late September, but the balloting is not slowing down, it’s setting records and is expected to stay busy. Voters are facing waits of 45 minutes to 2 hours.

Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel’s office is promising shorter lines and fewer problems on the second day of advance voting across the state.

What’s expected to be a record voter turnout is likely to be slowed even more in South Carolina by three constitutional amendment questions on the ballot. WJBF News Channel 6’s Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle has more.

Outlying counties in South Carolina are seeing record turnout for absentee voting. Hundreds are squeezing in time to vote early…and election offices are squeezing people into tiny offices to keep up. Joy Howe has the Palmetto State’s Vote ’08 coverage.

The fight over absentee voting continues in Aiken County. Monday night, the Board of Elections voted not to open satellite locations for absentee voting, which started Monday. The NAACP says thousands of voters could be disenfranchised if these satellite locations aren’t opened. Critics say the term disenfranchisement is being tossed around, and the real disenfranchisement issue could come from votes potentially being thrown out…if it’s determined state law only allows absentee voting at a county’s Board of Elections office. WJBF News Channel 6’s Paige Tucker has more.
