Legislative Delegation Fails To Name New Augusta Coliseum Authority Chairperson
The seat stays empty….as Augusta’s state lawmakers fail to name the top seat on the new Augusta Coliseum Authority. The legislative delegation met Tuesday morning to appoint the chairperson of the new James Brown Arena board.

Augusta TEE Center, Neighborhood Funding Plan Rejected
It was a bold plan to find the dollars to complete construction of the Trade Exhibit and Events (TEE) Center and jump start revitalization in Augusta’s historic Inner city neighborhoods. But, in a stunning vote, city leaders rejected the proposal. WJBF News Channel 6’s George Eskola has the story.

Vote Scheduled Tuesday Night On Richmond County School Reightsizing
Richmond County School Board members are scheduled to vote on revamping its schools, in the wake of an unstable economy. For the past few months, board members and Superintendent Doctor Bedden have been meeting about rightsizing. Under the plan, some schools would consolidate, and others would close. And, as the board prepares to make a decision, the rightsizing agenda is not sitting well with some parents and teachers. A vote on the plan was expected Tuesday night, but Dr. Bedden is now saying he’s not sure whether that vote will happen, Tuesday night. WJBF News Channel 6’s Fraendy Clervaud has more.

Blast Hits US Base; Afghan Vote Set For August
The U.S. military says a bomb has exploded outside of the main American base in Afghanistan, wounding several people. U.S. spokeswoman Capt. Elizabeth Mathias says the blast outside the main base at Bagram did not appear to kill anyone.

Is June Too Soon For Augusta Sales Tax Vote?
Augusta city leaders are looking to hold the vote on the next phase of the sales tax, in June. But, the stock market is down to its lowest levels in years, and the fear is the economy is going to get worse before it gets better. U.S. House Of Representatives Passes President Obama’s Economic Stimulus Bill
The House has passed a $787 billion plan to resuscitate the economy, handing President Barack Obama a big victory. The measure was passed on a 246-183, with no Republican “yes” votes. It will now go to the Senate, where a vote is expected later Friday.

Aiken County Will Not Use Taxpayer Dollars To Put Fence In Front Of Junkyard

Augusta Commission In With The New Mayor Pro-Tem
Two years ago, Augusta Commissioners made history by electing Betty Beard as the Mayor Pro-Tem. Beard’s term is up and, Tuesday, city leaders are scheduled to vote on her replacement, but at this late date, Commissioners are divided on who will get the job.
