Andy Demetra New Radio Voice For USC Basketball, Baseball
South Carolina has a new radio play-by-play voice for men’s basketball and baseball. The school and ISP Sports announced Monday that Andy Demetra was hired for that role. Demetra served as the women’s basketball play-by-play announcer from 2003 to 2006.

Study: More Grads Could Mean $7 Billion For SC In 2030
South Carolina colleges and universities are touting a study commissioned by higher education officials that says more education would financially benefit the state. A study released Wednesday by the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business says more college graduates by 2030 could mean a $7 billion boost to the state’s personal income.

South Carolina freshman defensive end Ronald Byrd will miss the season with a knee injury. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier said Wednesday that Byrd hurt his left knee during a scrimmage this week and would need surgery.

Hospital: USC Equestrian Team Member Improving After Horse Spill
A 20-year-old collegian who suffered a life-threatening head injury at a Vermont horse show is showing signs of improvement in an Albany, New York, hospital. Victoria Middleton, of Marietta, Georgia, was hurt Friday at the Vermont Summer Festival horse show in East Dorset when her horse got spooked and Middleton was knocked to the ground.
