USC-Aiken Students Offered Free HIV Testing

Students at USC-Aiken were encouraged Thursday to get free HIV testing while representatives from Sean’s Last Wish were there. The tests are completely confidential, and students were counseled about safe sex and sexually transmitted diseases.

Mother Speaks Out About Son’s Death In Aiken

She is a mother, on a mission. 28 months ago, Sean Kennedy was killed outside a bar, in Greenville, South Carolina. His mother now travels the country, spreading the message about hate crimes, and Thursday, she stopped in Aiken. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.

USC Aiken Ranks Number One Among Best Baccalaureate Colleges in the South by U.S.News & World Report for the sixth time

USC-Aiken Receives $1.3 Million Gift

The University of South Carolina Aiken has received a $1.3 million gift from an Aiken woman’s estate. The Aiken Standard reported Thursday that Lee Kaber’s gift will provide scholarships for students at the school with documented financial need. Kaber died in June 2008 at age 88.

They will do anything, it seems, for free tickets. Wednesday, the staff at Aiken Regional Medical Centers took a break from scrubbing in, to saddle up, and compete for the title of the best “boots and cowboy hats.“ Our own Joy Howe was a judge.

USC-Aiken Concludes Season 14th at NCAA Regional

Roberto Diaz moved up 19 places on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 16th, but it would not be enough to move the Pacers into the NCAA Division II finals with the fifth-ranked Pacers concluding their 2008-09 campaign in a tie for 14th place after the final round of the South/Southeast Regional at the par 72, 7,126-yard Robert Trent Jones of the Shoals Fighting Joe Course.
