Obama Meets With Families, Honors Fallen Soldiers

President Barack Obama has spent a few hours getting a first-hand look at the cost of war: the Americans who return in flag-covered caskets. Obama made a midnight trip to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware base to honor the return of 18 Americans killed in Afghanistan this week.

Drug Arrests Made In Columbia County

According to Capt. Steve Morris, drug arrests were made Wednesday night by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Capt. Morris says, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Wednesday night, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Washington Road at Davis Road in Martinez, GA. The people arrested are identified as 42-year-old Steven Curtis Newman, and his 36-year-old wife, Kimberly Lynn Newman.

Judge Rules CIA Committed Fraud In Court

A federal judge has ruled that CIA officials committed fraud to protect a former covert agent against a lawsuit. According to court documents unsealed Monday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth referred one CIA attorney for disciplinary action. The judge also is considering sanctions against five other current and former CIA employees, including former CIA Director George Tenet.

According to TMZ.com, the lawyer for the doctor who was at Michael Jackson’s home the day he died tells TMZ he did not give Jackson OxyContin or Demerol that day, but he wouldn’t say the same about the powerful anesthesia found at the singer’s home.

Multiple Agencies Involved In Huge Marijuana Bust

According to Captain Steve Morris, a month-long multi-agency investigation, involving the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and DEA, has lead to the arrest of Isaac Lewis, of the 1300 block of Hampton Avenue, in Aiken, and Rufus Hamilton, of the 700 block of Oriole Street, in Aiken, as well as the seizure of 400 pounds of marijuana, three vehicles and two utility trailers.
