SC Governor Mark Sanford Has $1.7 Million in Campaign Money, Can Use For Legal Bills
Governor Mark Sanford has $1.7 million left in campaign money… and he plans to use some of it to pay his legal bills. He’s being investigated by the South Carolina Ethics Commission for his travel and use of state planes. Some of his contributors are upset, but WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter, Robert Kittle, tells us why Governor Sanford, and any other candidate, can use campaign money for legal fees.

Giant Generator Still Stuck In Aiken
That giant generator that’s slowly moving through South Carolina is actually still not moving. A spokesperson for the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says it will stay put until at least October 10th, while the company works to get a permit to haul the big load.

Sixty South Carolina House Republicans are asking embattled Gov. Mark Sanford to resign. A letter from the lawmakers asking the GOP governor to leave office was delivered to Sanford shortly after noon Wednesday. South Carolina House Speaker Bobby Harrell says he wants Gov. Mark Sanford to resign. Harrell on Tuesday sent the governor a letter asking him to step down from office because of “constant distractions” Sanford has brought.

SC Governor Sanford Collected Mileage From Family-Owned Home
Travel vouchers show South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford charged the state $131 for mileage to drive from his family’s plantation in Beaufort County to Columbia for a news conference. The travel vouchers were obtained from the comptroller general’s office by ‘The State’ newspaper for a story Thursday.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says a state senator shouldn’t single him out by investigating his travels when other governors used pricey travel options for years. Sanford said Thursday he’d sent a letter to the lawmaker pointing out hundreds of the tickets bought over the past 25 years during his predecessors’ administrations. Communications director Frank Adams says Bauer at a Wednesday news conference will call on Sanford to leave office. SC Attorney General Wants Probe Of Governor Sanford Flights
South Carolina’s attorney general wants state ethics commissioners to review Governor Mark Sanford’s travels. The letter Thursday from Attorney General Henry McMaster to the chairman of the Ethics Commission follows Associated Press investigations of Sanford’s use of state aircraft for personal and political trips, and his flights on commercial airlines.

SC Governor Sanford Criticized For Taking So Much Time Off
As Gov. Mark Sanford is in Europe for two weeks with his family, he’s being criticized at home for spending so little time working lately. Beginning June 18th with his trip to Argentina to see his mistress, until this current trip, Gov. Sanford has worked ten days. Taking into account the July 4th holiday, that means he’s worked 10 days out of 25 business days during that time. WJBF News Channel 6’s SC Capitol reporter Robert Kittle has more.
