Crews are digging at exit 199 of I-20 eastbound, Monday morning. A tip came in that some possibly hazardous materials were buried along the interstate.

Case Closed For Augusta Couple Charged In Death Of Disabled Relative
The case against a south Augusta couple charged in the death of their disabled relative is closed…Jeanne and Buel Peterson pled guilty to reduced charges. The couple was arrested after Christina Baxter was found dead in her front yard.

UPDATED: DHEC Tells Edgefield County To Stop Dumping, Clean Up Trash Immediately
An update on a story we brought you Monday…DHEC had an investigator at the site Monday and will have someone back Tuesday. The agency will need to decide if Edgefield County Schools can continue to use some of the land on district property to dump and burn trash. UPDATE: DHEC has told the Edgefield County to stop dumping and clean up the trash, immediately. It’s not a landfill with permits, so they can’t do what they’re doing.

A local school district is defending itself after our news partners at EdgefieldDaily.com got a tip about possible illegal dumping behind J.E.T. Middle School. Aqueduct Park: More People Add Up To More Problems
Last year, volunteers polished a jewel, removing tons of trash from Aqueduct Park. With summer here, more and more people are using the site, off the Augusta Canal to cool off, but more people bring more problems with the city searching for a way to handle them. Hospital Loses Baby’s Body
