Green Light Changes for Aiken Intersections

New Traffic Signals Coming To Aiken
Ever get really confused when you’re driving down the streets in the city of Aiken? Well, here’s some good news for you…the city and state have worked together to install new traffic signals and signs. Officials say, since Aiken County has been growing rapidly, and they’ve seen more tourists, it’s time to make it a little easier to get around. The surveys were done, earlier this year…in the next few months, the new signs will be installed and by August…they should be up and running.

Making Whiskey Flow: Stimulus Money Could Help Aiken Traffic Congestion Problems
Traffic on Whiskey Road, in Aiken, drives some people crazy. But, there’s good news to report: changes are coming and they could help speed things along. Aiken and North Augusta will get $2.9 million from stimulus funds, money that is to be used for road improvements. Aiken leaders will use part of that money to synchronize the lights on Whiskey Road. The money won’t arrive until late summer, or early fall…so for now, a “quick fix” is on the way. WJBF News Channel 6’s Joy Howe has the story.
